Crystal Palace Football Club’s vision for its new Academy was ambitious: transforming a derelict site into a state-of-the-art Category A training facility for the club’s rising stars. The site would house cutting-edge indoor and outdoor training pitches, a full rehabilitation and medical suite, and all the security infrastructure required to support elite sport.
FSL was brought in during the earliest stages to deliver critical safety and security systems as part of a complex, phased refurbishment. The club required a partner that could not only meet the highest technical standards but also work seamlessly within an ongoing redevelopment, with minimal disruption, maximum reliability, and total compliance with league and safeguarding regulations.
Working across multiple buildings and site zones, FSL provided full system design and installation. We engaged with stakeholders throughout the build to adapt to evolving needs and ensure our solutions aligned with the club’s performance, safeguarding, and operational priorities. One of the major challenges was the nature of the site itself: a complete transformation of existing structures rather than a new build. This called for bespoke system integration and careful coordination with builders, architects, and the club’s internal teams to ensure consistency and safety across all stages.
In the second phase of the project, we expanded our installation to cover the newly completed medical and rehabilitation suite. This required further integration of fire safety and security systems, adapted to meet the privacy and operational needs of a clinical setting within a sporting environment.
